Important Cross Country Dates

a)      Picture Day is on October 23rd.  You will be released at 9:45 am at both schools.  Bring your uniform that day washed before you come to school because you will take a picture in it and then turn it in for those of you who borrowed one from me.  We are taking pictures at 10 am at Watkins park just down from the Natatorium.  Go there once you have changed.  Freshman change up there at the middle school and I will have someone pick you up to bring you down or pick you up.

b)      State Meet.  You will be excused for the state meet for those of you who want to come down and cheer on those running.  On the way home bring $15 for food as we will stop and eat somewhere on the way back in bountiful/Centerville area.  We will get home around 8:00 pm that night.

c)      Mile Race.  Friday October 25th.  For those who didn’t run at state we will have our annual Mile race where the Varsity runners pick the teams and we race and score it like a cross country race.  This will be after school and then we can go play some ultimate Frisbee afterward.  This is a lot of fun and most of you will run your fastest mile ever.

d)     Cross Country Banquet:  Our Banquet is on Tuesday October 29th.  It starts at 6:30 pm where we eat, give away awards and enjoy each other’s company.  It would be helpful for you to fill out the bottom of this page and bring it to me the day of the state meet.

Murray Invite and Tri Meet with SV and MC

I just wanted to congratulate Box Elder runners on there awesome effort at the last two meets we had.

The boys finished 13th in the varsity, 14th in the JV and 9th in the rookie race.  There were about 35-40 teams in each race so these are great finishes for Murray and it was especially exciting to see some of the runners set personal records in the process.  In the tri meet with MC and SV we finished third with the scores being MC 36, SV 42 and BE 46.

The girls finished 16th in the varsity, 25th in the JV and 20th in the rookie race.  There were about the same number of teams in these races at the Murray Invite.  These are great finished in the girls races as well.  In the tri meet with MC and SV we finished third with the scores being MC 29, SV 36 and BE 68.

Good Job Bees for your races and your hard work.

Popsicles, Watermelon and Pasta Party

At all of the meets we try to provide the runners with a little treat after they are done running.  That is usually popsicles and watermelons.  As far as pasta parties are concerned there are just a few of those and they are usually held the day before a big race.  Here are the races and if there is a pasta party I listed it next to the race.  Every race does need popsicles and watermelon at however.  Sign up quick before the date you want is gone.  Just comment here or call Stephanie Meredith, Sharon Hebbert or Meg Ferry to sign up for a date.  If you are also interested in helping out with the Boys Cross Country Banquet on Oct 29 at 6 pm held in the commons at BEHS contact Marci Olsen.  There phone numbers are not listed here but they were on a paper handed out about how to order sweats and shirt.

Sept 6  Murray Invite (Pasta Party on Sept 5)
Sept 11 MC, SV @ BE Tri Meet (Pasta Party on Sept 10)
Sept 18 BE, Roy @ Logan
Sept 25 Cache-Box Invite (Pasta Party on Sept 24)
Oct 2 Bonn, Ogden @ BE (Pasta Party on Oct 1)

Oct 16 Region Championships (Pasta Party on Oct 15)
Oct 23 State Meet @ Sugar House Park

Oct 29 Boys Cross Country Banquet held in the commons at BEHS at 6 pm.

Ordering Team Shirt, Parent Shirt, Uniform, Sweats

Today I sent home a paper explaining about how to order the team shirt, sweats, parent shirt and uniform.  Remember everything is optional.  I am really encouraging them to get the Team Shirt and the parents to get the Parent shirt.  The sweats are pretty fun and the uniform is optional as well.  There may be a better deal on the uniform in the spring during track season.  If they have lost the paper then you can go to https://team.sportchalet.com/BEtrack to order any of this.  I think it would be pretty cool if everyone had the team shirt and the parents had the parent shirt.

Starting out the Year

This is going to be a great year for Cross Country.  The boys and girls have worked hard this summer and will have competitive teams.  They had their first meet of the year at the Highland Invitational where Hannah was the fastest girl and Tanner was the fastest boy.  Good job girls and boys.
